Program Details

The program targets at either professionals in the field who wish to deepen their knowledge and prepare for the certification exams (eg CCNA), or young professionals who wish to access the labor market of the networking technologies, provided by companies such as CISCO or Mikrotik, which will then be certified.

The scope of the program is to provide a combination of theoretical and practical training in order the participants to acquire basic knowledge on the design, installation and management of networks. This will allow them to work as networks engineers. The program will be introductory but complete in terms of basic technologies in networking. This will help trainees to adapt to technologies from different vendors and acquire those skills required to deal with realistic network problems.

 

After the program is completed, the trainees will be able to:

  • Provide a basic theoretical approach in the field of computer networks
  • Recognize and evaluate customers and users’ requirements in the object of computer networks
  • Organize their actions to design/develop computer networks
  • To design, create, customize and manage networks and provide network support services.
  • To hold the required theoretical background, independent of the technology and the vendor equipment.

To face real network problems in cases of malicious actions.

PART A: Switching and Routing in IP networks

  • IP Sub-netting and Addressing
  • DHCP Services
  • DNS Services
  • Introduction to the use of network simulators.

PART B. Practical Networking training with network simulators (GNS-3)

  • Basic Router/Switch Configuration.
  • IP Subnetting and address configuration
  • OSPF Protocol Concepts
  • Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs)
  • Basic Switching Concepts with VLANs

PART C. Lab Projects

  • Implementation of Single-areas OSPFv2 backbone network
  • Implementation of VLAN Switching and VLAN Trunking Network

Throughout the program, trainees will have the opportunity to communicate with the trainers to ask questions and get support.

It is noted that for the participation in the program, it is required: (a) an e-mail account and, (b) the ability to access the Internet and connect to the E-learning platforms of the University of Patras.

 

For the successful completion of the program and the award of the Certificate of Training. it is required:

  • The trainees have successfully completed all the training courses and lab projects within the context of the program. These tasks will then be evaluated by the trainers.
  • To have received at least 50% of the highest grade (10) of the relevant scale.
  • The trainees have paid all their costs in the program.

 

Certificates for successful completion of the program will be sent only electronically by University of Patras.

The number of trainees per cycle is set at thirty 30.

The duration of the program is set at 40 hours (2 weeks).

Registration deadlines and start time are announced on the program website.

Next starting date is October 1st, 2023

Cost of participation is set to 200 Euros.

Payment fees are paid by one -off payment before the start of the program.

 

The amount shall be paid by depositing in the following bank account of the Research Committee  of the University of Patras and the reasoning of the deposit must compulsorily indicate the complete Give /Family name of the participant.

In the event of the cancellation of the trainee’s participation in the program, all the deposit is refunded only if the cancellation is made before the start date of the program.
